This blog covers how to test functionality and get data from Admin By Request using Windows PowerShell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are five tasks involved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Task A: Enable and Copy API Key<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Task B: Copy Required URLs from Resources<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Task B.1: Copy Inventory URL<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Task B.2: Copy Auditlog URL<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Task C: Start PowerShell and Declare API Key<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Task D: Define General Variables<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Task E: Get Data<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Task E.1: Get Inventory Data<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Task E.2: Get Auditlog Data<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong>&nbsp;In order to use&nbsp;<em>Invoke-RestMethods<\/em>&nbsp;cmdlets used during this task, you will need to be running Windows PowerShell version 3.0 or higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Task A: Enable and Copy API Key<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>1. In the&nbsp;<em>Admin By Request<\/em>&nbsp;user portal, navigate to menu&nbsp;<strong>Settings &gt; Windows Settings<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"560\" height=\"345\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/image-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3765\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dedicatedserverabr.kinsta.cloud\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/image-5.png 560w, https:\/\/dedicatedserverabr.kinsta.cloud\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/image-5-300x185.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Paste the API Key into notepad (or similar) to be retrieved later, so that it is not overwritten in Task B.1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Task B: Copy Required URLs from Resources<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In this task we will locate and copy two URLs to be used to make queries in subsequent tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Task B.1: Copy Inventory URL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Follow this\u00a0<a href=\"\/en\/docs\/inventory-api\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. From the list of resources, copy the URL you want to work with using the copy to clipboard button to the right of the URL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"557\" height=\"105\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/image-11.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3771\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dedicatedserverabr.kinsta.cloud\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/image-11.png 557w, https:\/\/dedicatedserverabr.kinsta.cloud\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/image-11-300x57.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE:&nbsp;<\/strong>For this example, we want to return our current inventory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong>&nbsp;The URL depends on your datacentre. In this example we are using data centre 1, so see&nbsp;<strong>dc1api<\/strong>&nbsp;in the URL. You may see&nbsp;<strong>dc2api<\/strong>, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Paste the inventory URL into notepad (or similar) to be retrieved later, so that it is not overwritten in Task B.2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Task B.2: Copy Auditlog URL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Follow this\u00a0<a href=\"\/en\/docs\/auditlog-api\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. In this example we are using data centre 1, so see&nbsp;<strong>dc1api<\/strong>&nbsp;in the URL. You may see&nbsp;<strong>dc2api<\/strong>, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Paste the Auditlog URL into notepad (or similar) to be retrieved later, so that it is not overwritten in Task C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Task C: Start PowerShell and Declare API Key<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong>&nbsp;If you want to run the code within this blog as a script you will need to change the default execution policy to bypass or unrestricted using the following line of code in PowerShell. However, the full process will not be covered in the scope of this blog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>set-executionpolicy bypass -scope process<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Launch&nbsp;<em>Windows PowerShell<\/em>&nbsp;and declare the API Key by copying and pasting the following line of code into the window:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>$apikey = &#8216;74521893577544cdac9b927df962f8a0&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Replace the API Key in this line of code with the API Key you copied in Task A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. The username has been blurred out in these examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Task D: Define General Variables<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In this task we will define several variables to make the code easier to work with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Define a header variable by copying and pasting the following line of code into the window:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>$header = @{&#8220;apikey&#8221;=$apikey}<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Replace the URL in this line of code with the inventory URL you copied in Task B.1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Press&nbsp;<strong>Enter<\/strong>&nbsp;on your keypad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Define an auditlog variable by copying and pasting the following line of code into the window:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>$auditlog = &#8216;https:\/\/dc1api.adminbyrequest.com\/auditlog&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. Replace the URL in this line of code with the auditlog URL you copied in Task B.2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. Copy and paste the following line of code into the window:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Invoke-Restmethod -uri $inventory -header $header -Method GET<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. There will be a brief pause before the data is returned in this task (E.1) and in task E.2. Key information is blurred out in these examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong>&nbsp;Without any parameters specified, a maximum of 50 entries are returned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Task E.2: Get Auditlog Data<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.
